What people ask about ceramic coating

Tired of waxing every few weeks

A ceramic coating lasts years, not weeks. Once it's on, the paint stays glossy and the car is far easier to keep clean.

Want the paint properly protected

A coating shrugs off bird mess, road salt and UV that would dull and etch unprotected paint. It's a hard layer, not a soft wax.

Not sure it's worth it on your car

It's worth most on a car you're keeping, a new car you want to protect from day one, or a detailed car you want to lock in. We'll tell you straight if a sealant would do.

What a ceramic coating actually is

A ceramic coating is a hard, clear layer that bonds to your paint and protects it for years. Where a wax sits on top and washes off in a few weeks, a coating chemically bonds and stays put. The paint keeps a deep gloss, water beads and runs straight off, and bird mess, salt and grime are far easier to wash away before they can etch in.

The coating is only ever as good as the prep underneath it. We don't coat over swirls and grime, because they'd be sealed in for years. The paint is washed, decontaminated with a clay bar and machine polished first, so the coating goes onto a corrected, clean finish. That prep is the real skill, and it's the same paint-correction work as our detailing.

We apply it mobile, on your own drive, with our own power, water and kit. You don't drop the car at a unit for a week. Tell us the car and the state of the paint and we'll quote the right level of coating and the prep it needs.

We correct the paint before we coat it

A coating locks in whatever's underneath. So we wash, decontaminate and machine polish first, then apply the coating to a finish that's actually worth protecting.

What the coating does for the car

Water and dirt run off

The surface goes slick, so water beads and runs off taking dirt with it. The car stays cleaner between washes and washing is quicker.

Protection from the things that dull paint

Bird mess, tree sap, road salt and UV all attack unprotected paint. The coating takes the hit and is far easier to clean before any damage sets in.

Years of gloss

Done properly on corrected paint, a coating holds a deep gloss for years rather than the few weeks you'd get from a wax.

Ceramic coating questions

Yes, for the right car. It protects the paint from bird mess, road salt, sap and UV, keeps a deep gloss for years, and makes the car much easier to wash. It's worth most on a car you're keeping, a new car you want protected from the start, or a freshly detailed car you want to lock in. For a car that just needs cleaning, a valet or a sealant is the better spend, and we'll say so.

It varies a lot, because most of the work is the prep, not the coating itself. A small car with tidy paint is a different job to a large car that needs full correction first. Tell us the car and the state of the paint and we'll give you a fair from price before anything starts.

It costs more up front than a wax, and it's only as good as the prep underneath. Coat over swirls and grime and you seal them in for years, which is why we always correct the paint first. A coating also isn't bulletproof, it resists scratches and etching but doesn't make the car immune, so you still wash it properly. Done right, the upsides far outweigh this.

You can, but you usually don't need to. A coating already does what a wax does and more, and lasts far longer. If anything, you top it up with a ceramic-safe spray sealant now and then rather than a traditional wax. We'll show you how to look after it when we hand the car back.

Yes. We're fully mobile and apply the coating on your own drive, with our own power, water and detailing kit. The car needs to stay put for the coating to cure, so a sheltered drive or garage helps, and we'll talk that through when we book it in.
